EMGWorld speaks with PR pro Arian Simone about her fearless secrets to success
She’s worked with some of the industry’s most popular artists and provided PR marketing to some of the industry’s most effective campaigns. Let’s face it, Arian Simone’s initials may as well stand for “Always Succeeding.” The Detroit born and bred entrepreneur speaks with EMGWorld on product placement, as well as the release of her e-book “7 Fearless Secrets to Success.”
EMGWorld: What made you want to pursue a career in public relations?
Arian Simone: I didn't. I didn't choose PR or major in it. I came across the opportunity when I was living in LA and took it.
EMGWorld: How did you come across the opportunity to work in PR?
AS: Someone from a previous job spotted me somewhere after I was laid off. He told me his wife needed someone help with some PR work and asked if I would be willing to help. I said sure.
EMGWorld: What's the most important thing someone can take away from purchasing your e-book “7 Fearless Secrets to Success?”
AS: I'd say people will learn through my e-book that your network equals your net worth. People can only give you what they have to give. If you're marketing a product or service that cost $10,000 a month and you're not associating with people that have that level of disposable income you will never get anywhere. That's just reality. If you don't like your income level, CHANGE who you hang around.
EMGWorld: Why did you choose the name 'FEARLESS' to represent your brand?
AS: I felt like that word best described my journey. I wanted it to be a vehicle and outlet for others to share their "fearless" journey.
EMGWorld: What's a typical day like for Arian Simone?
AS: I wouldn't say I have a typical day, but I do have a routine. I read my daily devotional book and a chapter in the bible every day. I receive affirmation and then I go workout. That's my morning routine. Once I get into the afternoon, every day is a different day.
EMGWorld: Who are some of the clients you've worked with and campaigned for?
AS: I've worked with a lot of celebrities. I've worked with Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, etc. I do a lot of movie campaigns. I’m a major vendor for Sony Pictures. I've worked with Relativity Media, Universal Pictures, Disney, etc. I've done PR marketing for a lot of different campaigns.
EMGWorld: What are the four steps to getting your product endorsed by a celebrity?
AS: Before you begin any of these steps you must make sure you have a PRODUCT. After you have your product you will then want to:
1. Write down a list of all the celebrities you want to endorse your product.
2. See if your product can serve a purpose to those people. Eliminate those people you don't believe your product will serve.
3. Go to IMDBpro and find the information to contact these people.
4. Figure out your method of contact (i.e. twitter, e-mail, phone, etc)
EMGWorld: Since you've started out what's been the toughest challenge that you've faced?
AS: As a woman, sometimes we can make EMOTIONAL decisions versus a business decision. If the bottom line isn't right, [companies] don't care whose feelings are hurt. You can get caught up in the emotions of this business versus making a clear cut, black and white decision. I always keep male mentors around just for that purpose. I had to learn over time to make sure any decision that makes sense must benefit the business properly.
EMGWorld: What's the best way for a newcomer to network and plug themselves in with the right people?
AS: Just GO for it. There's nothing tough about getting to know a stranger or stopping to speak with someone. I don't have any reservations when it comes to approaching people. For those who do, I suggest you create a team and partner with people who are good at approaching others and making connections.
EMGWorld: Within your journey, who would you say has been the most influential?
AS: I can't mention one name in particular. I've been blessed to be surrounded by plenty of people. I do have a movie publicity mentor. Her name is Roz Stevenson. I also have a music publicity mentor named Patty Webster. I've been blessed to meet plenty of great people.
EMGWorld: You have so many ventures taking place and involved with so many different projects. How do you stay balanced?
AS: I have great help. I do not do all of this on my own. I have excellent help from great team members and great staff.
EMGWorld: Can you go into detail on the A list?
AS: The A List is a membership-only club. People can go to different celebrity events for a monthly fee or one-time fee and receive an "A" list experience. It’s similar to how fan club companies are constructed. With the A List, there are NO limitations. You may go to a celebrity dinner, private party, sit courtside, etc. If you want that level of access and lifestyle you are better off buying a membership. The prices are very reasonable.
EMGWorld: Can you discuss your non-profit organization 'Live Your Dreams?'
AS: That's my baby. It’s an organization for youth ages 11-14. The program educates youth about non-traditional careers. We tap into their gifts and show them how to create a business from it. We teach them how to profit from their PASSION and make a career from it.
